Strengthening Research Through Collaboration: A Hands-On Workshop

Join us for an engaging workshop exploring the what, why, and how of collaboration in research. In this context, collaboration (samverkan) refers to meaningful, goal-oriented cooperation between researchers and actors outside academia – such as health authorities, municipalities, patient organisations, companies, public authorities, or civil society – to jointly develop, apply, or implement research that contributes to improved health and societal benefit. This may involve co-creation of research questions, shared implementation, or translating results into real-world practice.

Through interactive sessions, real-life case studies, and group discussions, we'll reflect on personal experiences, unpack key concepts - such as the collaboration ladder - and explore how collaboration can enhance research impact and possibly increase access to funding. Whether you're new to collaboration or looking to deepen existing relations, you'll leave with practical tools and insights to strengthen collaborative efforts in your work.

Target group: All researchers in medicine and health  - including preclinical and clinical research, public health, health economics and other related fields - who are curious about how to develop collaboration are welcome to attend.

"I lead two different consortia with partners from academia, healthcare and industry, funded by Vinnova. Successfully collaborating across different partners and interests has been essential to moving the project forward. Initially, it is often more challenging to lead collaborative projects compared to other types of projects, but in the end, it brings so much more in terms of creativity, increased understanding and improved outcomes." - Anna Falk

"I lead an interdisciplinary research project focused on improving preparedness for future pandemics, funded by agencies including the Swedish Research Council (VR), Vinnova and SciLifeLab. The project involves collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Public HealthAgency of Sweden, Smittskydd Skåne, Region Skåne and Västerbotten, several of the largest municipalities in Skåne and a biotech company affiliated with Umeå University." - Jonas Björk
