There is a large amount of verbal communication available in digital format, both as text and recorded speech, both contemporary communication and digitised older material, such as different archives and fictional literature. How to handle this information and what to make of it are exciting challenges for research.

Swe-Clarin is the Swedish part of an European research infrastructure - CLARIN ERIC - which in close collaboration with researchers has taken on these challenges through e-Science, by developing computer tools for working with such material efficiently. See https://sweclarin.se/eng and https://www.clarin.eu/.

During the course of the inauguration day, researchers from different disciplines in digital humanities will talk about their experiences with using language data as primary research data. There will be stations where the tools are presented. It will also be possible to try them out with guidance. The evening will end with a social mixer and refreshments.
