Peer-learning group "Python for Beginners" open for registration

– Published 22 January 2021

This year, COMPUTE, AI Lund and HubAI are launching peer-learning groups. The first one out will be a "Python for Beginners" group, starting on 27 January.

In these groups, LU students and researchers who want to learn a specific skill by themselves will be brought together so that they can exchange experiences and support each other in their self-learning. Each group will start with a kick-off workshop and receive suggestions for self-learning tools such as online courses. They will also get access to a chat platform. After that, the group can choose meeting times and also add more learning tools as suits the participants. No credits will be awarded, but we believe this is a great opportunity for those of you that want to develop their skills in between our regular courses and workshops. It is also a way of meeting others that use similar tools in their research. Suggestions for new topics are always welcome!

The kick-off for the "Python for Beginners" peer-learning group will take place on zoom on 27 January from 17:30-19:30. To register, send an email to compute@fysik.lu.se with the subject line "registration - peer-learning group - python for beginners". The zoom link will be emailed to registered participants the day before the event.

At the kick-off, Rafsan Ahmed will give an introductory lesson on the basics of Python programming, introduce the self-learning online course, and answer questions from the audience.

About the partners

COMPUTE

COMPUTE is a research school with a focus on scientific discovery using computing, but in the widest sense, meaning any research using digital tools or e-Science for short. COMPUTE brings together partners from several different departments at Lund University. The common theme for the activities of all these partners is the use of e-Science in driving research forward. Problems span all length scales from the microscopically small to the astronomically large and from pure basic research to applications of direct relevance for the challenges facing society today.
